Special Lecture Series

From 6:00PM to 7:30PM

Every January, Mote hosts its Special Lecture Series featuring Mote scientists who share their world-class research on Monday evenings. Each lecture takes place from 6:00–7:30 p.m. (doors open at 5:00 p.m.including a live presentation followed by a Q&A session.This event usually sells out, reserve your tickets early!Stop by for Dr. Richard Pierce and Dr. Cynthia Heil’s lecture on Jan. 23 about Florida Red Tide which causes severe negative impacts on the environment, economies and human health along Florida's west coast, and periodically the Atlantic coast. As a result of the severe 2018-2019 Red Tide, The Florida Legislature and Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission initiated the 6-year Red Tide Mitigation and Technology Development Initiative. This Initiative provides funding for Mote scientists to partner with other institutions and companies to conduct extensive laboratory and field research on the efficacy of a variety of potential products and technologies to mitigate the adverse effects of Red Tide
